12 Oct Armazém do Peixe (Afurada)
Located in the picturesque Afurada, a fishing village 10 minutes away from Porto and one of the city’s best kept secrets, this old warehouse has been transformed into a restaurant that honours the sea, the fish and their people. Rodrigo and João, two old friends from Afurada, have joined forces to create a place to honour fish and cook it in its most rustic form: grilled over coals. You can choose the fish right when you walk in, from one of the three grills at the entrance. Everything is fresh and tasty, but my recommendation is to order the robalo or Rodovalho, with roasted potatoes and salad. For starters, what I like to do is to order some squid (and if they have baby squid, don’t think twice about it), which is in the menu as a main dish but can be orders as a starter to share. The service is laid back and friendly. Tell then you come from The House of Sandeman Hostel & Suites and you will be treated like a king!
